As the Manager of London Operations, you will play a key role in ensuring operational excellence by spearheading the production of Charlie Bigham's food in strict accordance with our quality and production specifications. Key accountabilities:
Safety of the team and working environment
Achieve all agreed Manufacturing KPI’s
Deliver efficiency improvements in line with Business strategy.
Install and Embed LEAN.
Work with the wider production management team to plan or implement continuous improvement plans.
Train the production team in roles or responsibilities regarding goals and targets in line with operations strategy.
Maintenance of metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs and other necessary documents to successfully complete the role.
Develop and mentor direct report team to create a clear succession plan.
Deputise from General Manger and act as number two in his absence.
Role Responsibility
Health & Safety
- Ensure safe systems of work are in place for all areas of the production kitchen.
- Champion behavioural based safety and ‘zero accident’ culture through regular feedback and leading by example.
- Ensure team members are safe at all times and an appropriate program of job-related training is in place.
Food Safety
- Maintain site constantly above 90% compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice
- Ensure all team members are trained to appropriate levels in food safety and that food safety rules are adhered to at all times
Quality
- Ensure each dish produced is within specification and quality complaints maintained below agreed targets as measured by technical department.
Service Levels
- Develop a production team and production processes that consistently deliver service level more than 99%.
Productivity
- Through the implementation of lean production processes deliver continuous improvement in our ways of working, quality and efficiency.
- Take active involvement in developing a lean culture and setting lean routines.
- Manage process and equipment improvement.
- Ensure equipment is fully operational and, together with the engineering team, develop an effective TPM system.
Material Variance
- Reduce wastage level below 1.5%
- Work with the planning team in order to develop processes to effectively manage material flow and eliminate waste.
Team Development
- Ensure clear job descriptions and standards of performance are in place for all roles
- Adapt the team structure to support the business growth and the volume variations
- Lead and champion the bi-annual appraisal process with regular reviews at all levels to drive performance improvements.
- Develop and actively contribute to the “Kitchen Excellence” programme.
New Food Development (NFD)
- Work closely with the NFD team to ensure lean principles are built into New Food Development
- Be actively involved in production trials to maximise effectiveness and deliver successful product launches.
General
- Work within the company’s rules and policies, introducing procedures where appropriate in conjunction with technical documentation requirements.
- Adhere to the health and safety policy of the company and work within it’s guidelines to ensure personal safety of staff at all times.
Food Safety, Legality, Integrity and Quality Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring food safety, legality, integrity and quality is not compromised and company procedures are followed during day to day activities, in all operational areas including but not limited to, logistics, production, hygiene and health and safety.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in the FMCG manufacturing industry
- Previous experience on a Site Leadership Team with a proven record of driving cross functional improvement.
- Strong track record of delivering positive, successful change in a food manufacturing environment
- Demonstrable leadership skills with a track record of engaging and developing people
- Strong business acumen with the ability to drive focused improvement using financial data
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles such as Six Sigma
- Excellent communication and motivational skills
- Analytical skills with the ability to apply strategic solutions
- Very forward thinking and process orientated
- A clear sense of ownership and determination to deliver beyond expectations
