Site Services Engineer

Job Introduction

We are looking for a Site Services Engineer to provide support to the site engineering team through daily management of all site services, utilities and systems, assist with engineering stock management, carry out building and outdoor maintenance as required, assist with legal compliance management.

Role Responsibility

Key accountabilities

1. Maintain excellent levels of service to the engineering operation through

thorough maintenance and management of site service /utilities

2. To carry out daily checks, tests, optimization and maintenance on the following

site services

· Effluent plant –in line with our discharge permit

· Steam raising plant

· Compressed air plant

· Water softening and distribution system

· Refrigeration plant and associated plant

· External site water management system

3. Ensure all engineering procedures are adhered to, and all work carried out to

relevant legislation and guidelines.

4. Ensure all work is carried out in a controlled manor in line with the company’s

technical procedures.

5. Maintain a safe clean working environment for all members of staff on site.

6. Manage contractors if required.

7. Assist in engineering stock control

8. Carry out general building /site maintenance and repairs.

9. Assist Engineering manager with site service contract management.

Key areas of work:

Engineering Support

  • Maintain site services equipment in optimum working order

  • Minimize reaction time to site services issues

  • Ensure all regulatory standards are met (e.g., EA permit)

  • Improve plant efficiency

  • Train operators on new machinery when required

  • Demonstrate a proactive attitude toward maintenance

  • Promote correct use of equipment

Health and Safety

  • Maintain a safe working environment in line with company and legal requirements

  • Follow all engineering health and safety procedures

  • Participate in the health and safety team and carry out required functions

People

  • Communicate effectively with operational staff through formal and informal channels

  • Participate in meetings and trials requiring engineering input

Quality / Technical Standards

  • Maintain machinery in compliance with quality and technical requirements

  • Follow site technical procedures for general maintenance

  • Work closely with the hygiene team to ensure correct cleaning procedures

  • Proactively improve engineering functions to reduce food safety risk

New Product Development

  • Assist and support the Engineering team with trials and equipment solutions where necessary

The Ideal Candidate

Experience

  • Previous experience working in an FMG chilled environment

  • Experience with:

    • Effluent plant

    • Compressed air systems

    • Steam raising

    • Pumped water systems

    • Refrigeration

    • Experience of working in a customer focussed environment
    • Contract management 
    • Working knowledge of regulations relating to pressure systems and control of legionella

Qualifications

  • Time-served apprenticeship in an engineering environment

  • Food production engineering experience
